How can Finance get into the EDI world

paper-stackImage that its Friday morning, just like all of the others, the Accounts Payable Manager comes out of his/her office to the sound of paper being shuffled throughout the AP department. He/she looks over their empire of personnel and watches as each clerk pulls a check from one pile, the paper remittance details from another pile and then any backup for that remittance (debits, notes) from another pile and then puts each of these into a windowed envelope and inserts the envelope into the stack with the others. Then repeats that process over and over for the balance of an hour.

Marlow - Back to the Future - Again

SignUnderDuressSince the middle of last year I've noticed a trend that I had been waiting to comment on until later, but with yet another grouping of retailers doing the same old thing, I thought it time to say my peace. This trend has to do with Retailers either requesting or requiring suppliers to use their independent portal site, or requiring suppliers to use an exclusive providers to conduct electronic trading. Many of my customers have been reaching out to me with complaints regarding letters from their customers (Retailers/Distributors) requiring them to switch to an exclusive EDI provider or to use a internally created EDI portal.
