For years there has been notable interest in warehouse robotics as Amazon, FedEx and other companies with complicated fulfillment and warehousing operations have turned to automation to increase productivity.

A recent seafood industry traceability pilot study has confirmed that standards are essential to helping trading partners seamlessly exchange supply chain data across technology platforms, improving end-to-end visibility. The study was conducted by GS1 US in collaboration with the Global Dialogue on Seafood Traceability (GDST), the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT), Beaver Street Fisheries, Bumble Bee Seafoods, Chicken of the Sea, FoodLogiQ, IBM Food Trust, Insite Solutions/Norpac, ripe.io, SAP, Walmart and Wholechain.

Local governments across China are rushing to appoint their own “supply chain chiefs”, a new title emerging as part of a quasi-military command system for corporate governance in an effort to add some muscle to local support of Beijing’s self-sufficiency drive amid a protracted trade rivalry with the US.
